Satellite U920t delivers Tablet and Ultrabook™ functionality in one

25 October 2012

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – 25th October 2012. Combining the best of both worlds, Toshiba’s new Satellite U920t convertible Tablet/UltrabookTM takes the lead in the latest consumer line-up unveiled by Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited today.

“It’s the device that has it all,” said Justin White, Toshiba Product Marketing Manager (Australia) Pty Limited. “For consumers who want to combine portability and performance without the need for multiple devices, this is a smart solution. With its ultra-slim and light design, you can replace your notebook and tablet with one single piece of pioneering technology.”

Using a unique sliding hinge design, the Satellite U920t makes the switch seamlessly from a 12.5” HD ultra-responsive Windows 8 touchscreen tablet to a powerful, fully functional UltrabookTM, complete with backlit tile keyboard and ClickPad™.

Also starring in the new line-up is the stylish Satellite P840 – a high performance touchscreen notebook with textured metallic finish. It brings the Windows 8 live tile experience to life, enabling you to take full advantage of the interactive touch capabilities of the new platform.

“We wanted to give consumers a new way to interact with technology. Designed for entertainment lovers and power users, we’ve built intuitive touchscreen technology into the notebook so, just like a tablet, it’s easy to access and navigate content on the move. With its 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ processor, there’s also no need to sacrifice power or performance,” continued Mr White.

“The Satellite P840 features Toshiba’s new HDD Accelerator technology, specifically configured for Windows 8, giving you faster access to your favourite apps and programs. It speeds up the search function of the Hard Drive by using part of the main memory of the computer as a cache, increasing speeds by up to 60 per cent.”

Toshiba’s latest range introduces a host of other new technologies all aimed at increasing efficiency – including Toshiba’s Desktop Assist for Windows 8, which provides an alternative ‘Start Menu’ so you can organise folders in a familiar structure for easy navigation. Plus, Toshiba eco UtilityTM for Windows 8 makes it easy to control power usage and reduce consumption, while Toshiba Rapid Charges allows devices connected via USB to charge three times faster.

For students, home office professionals and those looking for performance and value, the new ultra-slim Satellite U940 14” UltrabookTM is the perfect everyday ‘all-rounder’. Optimised for Windows 8, it’s the first Ultrabook™ to feature a removable battery so you can stay productive and keep working as long as you have access to a fresh battery.

Other new products include Toshiba’s U840W widescreen 14.4” UltrabookTM, which utilises a 21:9 cinematic display to extend the Windows 8 experience, and Toshiba’s All-In-One LX830, with touchscreen gesture technology so you can take full advantage of the Windows 8 platform.
